The Borneo Orangutan and Dayak Culture Tour is a combination of viewing the amazing orangutans and the fascinating Dayak culture. If you enter Indonesia through Jakarta then the tour will be on morning flight via Semarang then connecting with other flight to Pangkalan Bun in Central Borneo. You can also start this 5 days Borneo Orangutan and Dayak Culture Tour from other parts of Indonesia such as Bali via Yogyakarta and overland to Semarang with an overnight stay there. The recommendation is flying into Semarang to catch connection to Pangkalan Bun.

Day 1 Pangkalan Bun Airport - Kumai - The Orangutan National Park.
Once you have arrived at Central Borneo you will be met by a representative who will transfer you away from the airport and into the jungle via a traditional Klotok boat which is about twelve meters and has cabins for guests as well as a team of the boatman, a chief and the tour guide who is an enthusiastic practicing conservationist who will lead you into the jungle and inform you of many interesting facts about the orangutans and the problems that the teams face in protecting them. You will travel up the beautiful coast until you reach the river that you will then travel up into the jungle and stop off for your first nights stay. All of the over night stays are on the boat with simple mattress and mosquito net set-ups. You also have the choice each night of the stopping at the lodges that are positioned along the way and of similar simple standards.

Day 2 The Orangutan Park - Camp Leakey - Overnight.
The next day begin with further traveling on the boat where you will see the wildlife by the side of the river and soon reach the first camp called Camp Leakey where you will see the projects and reintroduction programs that are in operation here. At every camp and center you will be taken around and see the feeding of the animals as well as learn about the different problems that the orangutans and the workers face in maintaining their protection.
Dinner and overnight.

Day 3 The Park -  Kumai - Pangkalan Bun - Bakonsu Dayak Village
The next day varies to the usual Borneo tours and features not only a visit to the orangutan sanctuary where the older orangutans are kept but also a speed boat journey to Bakonsu were you can get involved in a local party and dancing ceremony hear the musical instruments and get a feel for the culture of the area. You are extremely welcome to these parties and then you will be able to stay in the long house in the area or on the boat.

Day 4 The Park - Bakonsu Dayak Village - Pangkalan Bun.
The next day is visiting the local village to get more experience with the local Dayak People and culture including further monkey visits but you will also get the chance to visit the local traditional markets and see the palaces and the surrounding areas. The Dayak culture is one of the unique culture in Borneo and is worth to visit during this 5 days Borneo Dayak Tour. Then you will continue on the way home and stay in the Pangkalan Bun Hotel.

Day 5 Pangkalan Bun - Departure
Breakfast at the hotel and then transfer to the airport for onward flight. You can also have further flights to other areas in Indonesia such as Bali if you make prior arrangements.
