That is why they become usual doing everything on the river. Being important in local daily life, Mahakam river is another charming Kalimantan has to offer.
In this tour, you will be taken to experience the great Mahakam river. Cruising this river to learn how local people doing their activities on it as well as enjoying the forest and the wildlife as the boat passes by.

Tour Itinerary
Day 01 International Airport Balikpapan – Loajanan – Mahakam River
Arriving Sepinggan Airport in Balikpapan, our guide will take you to Loajanan for cruising Mahakam River by house boat. A stop at Loajanan to see the paper plantations from the local farmers. Meals will be served on the boat. Overnight on boat.

Day 02 Muara Muntai – Jantur Fisherman Village – Mancong – Minta Village – Mahakam River.
After breakfast, make a stop at Muara Muntai to observe people living at wooden village then cruising over Jempang Lake by motorized canoe. On this fullday trip, you will pass beautiful places like Ohong River and Ohong Village and its beautiful views along the river to get to Mancong Village. During the trip, make a stop at Jantur Fisherman Village to see them making homemade salty fish. Arriving Mancong, welcome ceremony will be performed by Dayak Banuaq tribe in front of their long house. After making a visit at this village, return to house boat at Muara Muntai. During the cruise to Melak with a stop at Minta Village to visit the local people make traditional brown sugar from the palm trees using the traditional technique. Lunch box will be provided, dinner and overnight on boat.

Day 03 Melak – Pepes Eheng Long House – Kersik Luway Black Orchids – Mahakam River.
Arriving Melak in the early morning, visit the local market for sightseeing. Breakfast will be served on the boat. Continue your safari to visit Pepas Eheng Longhouse where you can see the authentic traditional longhouse and handicraft made by local Dayak artists, royal tomb traditional cemetery. The trek to see huge trees on the jungle is also available.
Continue the trip to Kersik Luway the beautiful black orchids and other kind of orchids grow in this forest. Return to the boat for cruising down the river to Tenggarong. Meals will be provided on the boat.

Day 04 Tenggarong – Museum Mulawarman - Samboja - Orangutan Tours - Balikpapan
Breakfast on the boat then visiting local market, royal cemetery and Museum of Sultan Palace. After visiting those places, proceed to Samboja to visit and observe Orangutan Island and sun bear sanctuary. The area in Samboja becomes the conservation and rehabilitation center of the orangutan and rainforest program in Kalimantan. Return to Balikpapan for dinner. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Balikpapan.

Day 05 Balikpapan hotel – Kebun Sayur Shopping Arcade – Balikpapan Airport
Breakfast at the hotel continue by a visit to Kebun Sayur shopping arcade where you will find traditional market selling many kind of stone like diamond, gold, rugby, safir kecubung, ametis and other stone as well as other handicraft to bring home. Finishing the tour on the afternoon. Transfer to Balikpapan airport for the next destination.
